Why use Short Codes?
A short and memorable number allows incoming communication from an otherwise unknown lead. Let potential customers, users or other stakeholders contact you.
Five-digit Short Codes or MSISDN numbers are billed at a pre-determined, advertised, and higher than normal rate. Available on Cell-C, MTN, Telkom Mobile and Vodacom. Network operators have introduced a series of Short Codes with price ranges to suit any budget.
The revenue generated by using a premium rated SMS line is shared between the Short Codes owner, the mobile operator, and SMSPortal. The revenue share depends on the price band and the network.
Custom campaigns can be developed to cater for specific requirements, and users can alter:
- The response sent
- If the incoming SMS should be forwarded to email or a mobile number
Each network pays out a different amount according to their own revenue share models (see below), but a minimum monthly volume of 500 messages per network will be required before LBM SMS will pass on any revenue to clients.
